Crowns & Bridges

Our Services
Dental crowns and bridges are dental prosthetic devices that are used to restore and enhance the function and appearance of damaged or missing teeth.
Here's a brief explanation of each:
Dental Crowns:
- A dental crown is a cap-like restoration that is placed over a damaged or weakened tooth to restore its shape, size, strength, and appearance.
- Crowns are often recommended for teeth that have undergone significant decay, fractures, or root canal treatment.
- They can be made from various materials, including porcelain, metal, or a combination of both (porcelain-fused-to-metal). The choice of material depends on factors such as aesthetics, strength, and the location of the tooth in the mouth.
Dental Bridges:
- A dental bridge is a fixed prosthetic device used to replace one or more missing teeth by bridging the gap between adjacent natural teeth or dental implants.
- The bridge consists of two or more crowns on the healthy teeth or implants on either side of the gap (abutment teeth), with one or more artificial teeth (pontics) suspended between them.
- Dental bridges help restore the function of chewing, maintain the alignment of surrounding teeth, and improve the overall appearance of the smile.
The Process:
Dental Crowns: The process involves preparing the tooth by removing a portion of its outer structure, taking impressions, and then placing a temporary crown. The permanent crown is custom-made in a dental laboratory and is later cemented onto the prepared tooth during a subsequent visit.
Dental Bridges: The procedure involves preparing the abutment teeth, taking impressions, and placing a temporary bridge. Like crowns, the permanent bridge is fabricated in a dental laboratory and then cemented onto the abutment teeth during a follow-up appointment.
Both dental crowns and bridges are essential restorative options that can improve the function and aesthetics of a patient's smile. It's important to consult with a dentist to determine the most suitable option based on individual oral health needs and considerations.
